If you are designing a website, there are a number of things you should look for. There are a number of principles you should follow.
A simple internet search, however, will reveal article upon article with each article offering different principles and each claiming to be the best and the only one that you need. So what do you really need in terms of web design?
Very simply put, you need to have an insight in how the internet works and you need to understand what people who use the internet are looking for. There are only two driving principles for websites: the first is to get people to the website and the second is keeping them on the website. Those are the two principles that you will need the most.
In terms of the technical part of the website, there are seven main things you need to think about. These are balance, color, grid, typography, graphics, connection and white space. Understanding those seven things and you should be able to be involved in some fantastic web design.
This is what will allow you to make a website that interests them and draws on their curiosity, making them stay on the website.
However, as stated, the other very important thing is getting people to visit your website. This is achieved through SEO work, using keywords, guest blogs and guest links for instance. The two areas are separate and very complicated and most people are only involved in one area of the two.
